mpc2000 question that needs answer's

Hello all that are reading my noob question...

I just picked up a MPC2000 geting it in the mail tomorrow...I've been doing my research and all that good stuff...but havent found some of the answer's i am looking for.

question 1 - Is it in my best intrest to upgrade the drive, or should i just get the iomega?

question 2 - where do i get the fx add on?

question 3 - what keyboard should i get for a synth...since i am new to this production side of things i dont want to spend crazy money since i dont know what i am doing. I would like the least expensive but more bang for the buck...


I've been a dj for 15 years, now i've decided to go a little deeper into music...

dont own the 2000 but.....

question 1--- that will be up to you. but i would say upgrade it.

question 2-- search for that one. im sure you will find the answer around here.

question 3-- nothing cheap. there are all kinds of synth keyboards
mircokorg, roland junos, alesis micron.

really i dont think anyone can tell you what is the best, its all gonna be up to what you like, what sounds you want. its all on you kid.

for a keyboard, just look around for an old synth that has midi and is touch sensitive. if it has aftertouch, all the better.
should be able to find something in teh 100 to 200 range.

ok so i got me a XioSynth...& a MPC 2000 classic

the Synth has one midi output
No midi inputs...
and 1 regular stereo Output

I dont care to use it as a controller...i just want to record the sounds i make off the keyboard onto my mpc....

How would i go about doing this...

I tried every way...

1. "line out" from the synth to "record in" to the mpc...Nothing
2. "Line out" from the Synth to "line in" to the mixer & "record in" from the mpc to the "record out" of my mixer...nothing

This doesn't have anything to do with the midi does it?
I have the only midi out from the synth going to the midi input A of the mpc...

Hi. I know the Xiosynth has no MIDI in, but is it possible to get a Midi to USB adapter and use the USB for midi in- allowing full sequencing with the MPC?
