So waddup. This is my first post here, because next week, I'll be a proud owner of my first MPC. (the 1000)

I have a great deal of questions regarding connections, mixers, and a turntable.

So first things first.

Im have a Toneport UX2 Audio Interface that I need to connect to a mixer. Im looking to spend somewhere around 150$ for a good mixer that doesnt create alot of feedback and white noise if I can. I was looking at the Behringer's XENYX 1204.
Heres a picture of the toneport UX2 if you need a look.

So basically I need to figure out how I can connect my interface to the mixer, I am familar with the alt 3-4 outs into the soundcard method, so im basically looking at how I can connect this and not get feedback when listneing to mixes through my headphones etc.

Secondly,
Turntables.

Im looking at the Stantons .T80 but im down to purcahse any TT at the price range of 100$-200$ where I can get a decent recording through my mixer into my interface, INTO my computer.

Anyways thanks for reading. Any input would help.

Make a search on the forums for your tt and the mixer question, there has been been a lot of topics about this.

Do you really think you will get a quality 12 ch. mixer for $130? There are DJ mixers where one replacement fader alone costs that much. Now think about what kind of quality you will get in a 12 channel mixer for $130...

If you only have an MPC you probably don't even need a mixer in the beginning. Better wait and save up for something decent is my advice.

Well im getting a mixer because i dont have enough inputs on my interface for the TT, MP, and future sound modules n shit. But im not worried about the mixer anymore cause Im not going to get feedbacck through the headphone input cause instead of using the mixer's headphone jack, I can just use my interfaces. DOH!

lol but I got a good feeling about this mixer because I dont need anything too crazy. And if the preamps are that bad, i can just buy an external.

Well, ok then. But my advice stays the same - you will not get a good mixer for $130. And it's not just about the preamps that are in it.

im not looking for a top quality mixer. im looking for one that will work.

I kno u dudes are gon freak out n shit for me sayin that, but im not using it to record cause if all else fails, i still got my interface. secondly, the construction maybe a little weary but oh well im ready to take the risk :D

And anyways why go buy a 500$ mixer? Basically it all goes back to the more inputs, the more expensive the mixer. THat makes no sense to get one that exspensive if im only using 2-4 inputs.

ANd plus, this doesnt look half bad.

anyone say cheap mixer???

i just got one of these for my birthday.

Image
Behringer XENYX 1202

and i've had one of these for years.

Image
mackie vlz 1202 pro

it's crazy how similar they are, from the location of the controls (somewhat standard) down to the color scheme. i got the behringer for gigs so as to avoid hauling around the mackie, and tearing up my studio, just for a little line control, it was a gift, I didn’t pick it out, but so far i'm really happy with the behringer, i've got a little bit of behringer hate in my bones, which just comes along with their gear being so affordable (i.e. Cheap).

here's a little side by side. the behringer produces a bassy, muddy tone, as if heavily compressed, which peaks kicks something awful. there's less definition in the tones. the mackie is big and cumbersome, no onboard efx, lots of rear connections, which are inaccessible when the unit is in a case. so for me it's perfect, because even the drawbacks of the behringer are actually benefits in a live setting. and if i lose an $80 mixer to a beer, it's not the end of the world.

so am i reformed, will i now buy tons of cheap behringer products? no way. i'm going to avoid behringer like the plague, like i always have. but that's not to say they don't make useful gear. (insert argument here: "its not the instrument, it's the musician")

i'm happy with my $80 mixer, that's sort of the point of this post.

Well ok, if you only want to hook some sources together, get one of these:

Can't do nothing wrong with that. Simple, solid, passive.

Sorry, but that was a serious recommendation. The only thing your sound is going through there is a pot damping the signal in volume so it doesn't overload when you combine several inputs. It's completely passive, nothing that can degrade the signal in any way. If you want to just combine several sources, this is the safest and cheapest solution.
