First of all, welcome to the forums.
A little tip for you as you've just started posting - make sure you use the search function and look thru old posts. 9 times out of 10, the answer you're looking for will have been posted somewhere before.
Also, read your 1k manual like it was the f*ckin bible, and today was your last day on earth. This will prevent you from asking stupid questions, and getting a sh*t load of flak from the regular forum people.
RTFM will become part of your vocab in no time!
In answer to your question:
1. You have a 1k? What will be your source for samples?
2. If it's records.....do you have a record player?
3. If you have a record player, do you have a mixer?
4. If you have a mixer, you will need audio cables to connect your mixer to your MPC.
5. If your sample source will be your iMac (i.e. CDs, downloaded tracks fro the web), you will need a USB cable in order to dump files from your Mac to your MPC.
6. Do you have headphones to listen to what you're doing on the MPC?
7. You might need audio cables to connect your MPC back to your mixer so you can listen to what your doing via your monitors.
8. Do you have monitors/speakers? You will need monitors to hear what you have done on your MPC, if you want to play it out loud, alternative to hearing it thru headphones.
So, to reiterate:
1. MPC 1k
2. Audio cables
3. Turntable (optional, for playing records)
4. Mixer (optional)
5. Headphones
6. Amplifier (for amplifying the sounds coming from your mixer, to which you have connected turntables, MPC etc)
7. Monitors (to hear)
8. USB cable (connects MPC to computer - capable of dumping sound files either way, MPC only acts as slave device)
Aight?
