budget mixing board with good frequency range??

hey everyone.

I need to get a budget mixing board to eq and amp up my sounds going into the MPC. I'm getting a very nice ortofon cartridge for my turntable, so ideally i want something that won't lose any of that frequency content or muddy up the sound going through it to much.

so something with a nice frequency response/range or whatever, at least 20hz to 30 khz, most i've seen in my price range are 20hz to 20khz, which ain't great. I dont' need ,many inputs or channels as i will just be using it to shape the sound from the turntable to the mpc, rather than mixing.

I'm gonna get it on e-bay, and my ideal budget would be 200-250 pounds, but will go up to say 400-500 if you can suggest something worth it, and you don't think i can get what i'm looking for in that price range, as i'm new to this. i Definitely will need a sweeping mid on there, rather than a fixed one, even better if theres 2, as i want to seperately boost the lows on the kicks and snares, so i need one which i can boost as low as about 60 hz. Also decent sounding preamps.

i've got a week to decide, so any feedback you could give me would be great, as i'm racking my brains about what to buy, and i don't want to end up with something really crappy. Thanks.

the average human adult ear, in theroy, can only hear from 20hz to 20khz.

im not too sure if youll find one that goes to 30k lol.

also, if something says 20hz to 20k, you dont really know if this is the frequency response, or where the signal has been cut or boosted, so it could say that the specs go from 20hz to 20khz, but it might not say that it has a 400 hz roll off and a 4k boost and thus cannot reproduce bass sounds very well, but works well for vocals.

behringer is one of the only companys that acutally tells you this kind of stuff before you open the box, but most of their stuff sucks anyway, just check around meng. youll find somethin.

i would also try just putting raw sounds into your mpc and eq'ing them in your DAW after you track your beat out, if you use a DAW.

i think i've decided to get an 'art pro channel', as a channel strip is what i'm after, as ive been told, and this is the closest i can get in my price range.

a combined tube eq, preamp and compressor, so i can use the eq and preamp going in for some tube overdrive (upgrade the tubes at a later date), and compressor on the output, very cool. A versatile eq, much better option than a low end mixing console. Has anyone got one of these?
I've read alot of positive stuff about it on the net

that does look pretty sweet, but it doesnt have attack and release knobs, they are just switches, but it would probably work fine for the buck.
