Sampling into the Mpc 500...!

whats good errbody, just recently got my first mpc, the 500, its dope so far but..

i was reading the manual n shit, and it said to plug the vinyl(external device) to the RECORD IN, whic is located on the mpc500s rear panel.. i dont see anything at the pack that says record in on my mpc..

and what chord is being plugged into the record player, to the mpc, and if it was an ipod?... oh man, id really like to get this going, but im **** stuck. anyone?

just use two normal jacks.

If u want to sample from vinyl, it's best to hook the record player up to a dj mixer, and wire the outputs (probably RCA) to the mpc's record input.
Go to the local music store were they sell all this. If u tell them u need to go from a rca out to a jack in, they'll know enough to help u out.

For i-pod to mpc u need a mini jack- double jack cable/ adapter

my turntable is a Stanton T.60,it does not have a built in preamp...dj mixers have built in preamps..or you can just buy a preamp.(Unless you have a turntable that already has a built in preamp)
I just have a preamp..(the Gemsound PL-USB to be exact)so..i have the regular 1/8 to 1/8 rca cables going from the turntable into the pre-amp...then, I got 1/8th to 1/4th cables from the preamp to the 'record in' on the mpc.

..actually this is how i had it before,now i have a microkorg and some mixer,so the set up is a little bit different..basically everything is running into the mixer and i have the mixer outs going to the In of the mpc.

so Can i just pick these cables up at a radioshack or something?

i havent gotten it up here yet, but i have a real old record player, that im planning on running to a mixer, then my mpc.. but no preamp probly in the record player (due to age) so hmm

yes,u can get the cables at radioshaq or guitar center...or a store like that...if u have a dj mixer, then that has a preamp in it.,if its just a regular mixer,you are going to need the preamp.

numark TTX1 is a turntable with a built in pre, can transmit on SPDIF... plus it has the pitch lock feature... worht it if you have the $$$

i went out to circuit city, got the usb connections i needed, i have my ipod and ipod usb into a female small usb thing, then hooking into the larger usb which goes into the mpc....

i was reading the manual... but say i had a song, and i wanted to sample a little part into the mpc, to the pds?, i cant figure it out, i got it hooked up properly i believe, so im almost there...

They are not usb wires they are audio jacks you need 1/8" to 1/4"



make sure to put the 1/4" jack in the L input. Now hit mode then the pad that says record not sure of the number off hand. Then move over to where it says stereo and change it to mono L. Now you should here the sound from the ipod. When you are ready to record hit the do it button then hit it again when you are done and press the pad where you want the sample.

i got samling going into the mpc from my ipod now

but the stuff i sampled, doesnt go at all with the tempo etc, and just plays in the pads normal like im listening to my ipod on my headphones or something, u know what i mean?

how can i use it to go with the tempo i want etc?.. hmm im tryhing to find this through the manual beleive me, but its frustrating as shhhhhit
