Assignable Outs (MPC5000)/ Tracking into Pro Tools (Mbox 2)

Ok, so i just got my Mbox 2 (Pro Tools) and im trying to track out my songs I have loaded on the MPC into Pro Tools of course. So being some what of a person who likes to try and find out how things are done on my own first, I did come up with some sort of a bootlegged way of gettin my sounds into Pro Tools.

What I have is my MPC & MOTIF Rack main outs running into my little baby Mackie mixer (with only enough inputs for the mpc & rack and one mic input). From there I have an audio cable (red and white) running from the mixers cd/tape outputs, into the MPC's phono inputs. I also have a mic cable running from the 'headphones jack' of the mixer into input 1 of the Mbox 2. I also have my mic connected to input 2 of the Mbox 2. I also have the MPC and Pro Tools MIDI'ed so that when I hit space (play) on Pro Tools (master) it automatically start the MPC (slave)play as well.

So from here I can go into my sequence and mute all but one track and record it into Pro Tools. Now this isnt a bad thing right now because im just excited that im actually getting it to work somehow. But from what I have heard there is supposedly some way to actually track out more than one track (supposedly 8 being the MPC has 8 assignable outs) simultaneously!!! Being that the Mbox has only 2 inputs im sure I can only get out 2 at a time if i can ever figure out how this works. I have been thru the manual and I have seen how you can export go into mixer mode and set different out puts to the "Programs" mixer page but not on the "tracks" mixer.

Anyway...a few pointers for you to think of:

1. Headphone outs are not there for tracking your beats, they are for...well...headphones.
2. CD/Tape out to Phono In is usually not a good idea either.
3. I don't see a reason to route your MPC back into your MPC at all. Unless you want to track something in the 5000, which you obviously don't want to.

Better rethink your mixer routing a little bit. Sound generators to the Ins, Outs to the recording interface, 2nd Out to your monitors. Alternatively headphone jack for quiet monitoring.
