trouble with pads responding

just got my mpc 2000 off ebay, not the greatest condition. but im trying to load just simple snare and hi hats onto it through floppy disks. im loading 16 bit wav files. i can load them on just fine but when assigning them to different pads, they aren't responding. are my pad sensors fried? any pointers are much appreciated.

Can you hit the pads hard and they work? If so it could be pad sensitivity.

I believe you can go to Mode-->Other and change pad sensitivity.
If this isn't the case and the pads just don't work at all I would report it to eBay and get your money back.
