Hey guys,
I'm a brand new mpc1000 owner.
I love it so far. The mpc is really nice, very intuitive to use-a lot easier then I thought it was, and I've gotten into the more advanced features such as cut/splicing/dividing waveforms and adding effects---quite easy.

So I have some very quick questions.
I've been looking at upgrades.
First thing first---I bought my mpc off a guy on ebay. I asked him when he purchased it-he said 2008, so I'm thinking it already has the upgraded pads installed from akai? Is there a way to check if it has the upgraded pads without dissassembling?

2nd question. I've been looking at upgrades.
The mpc came with a 1gb flash card with some samples on it. When I load the samples onto my mpc it loads some then says "insufficeint space".

So should I get a hardrive? Or am I just not doing the loading correctly? Becuase I know 1gb is a decent amount of space.

So shoudl I get hardrive? Upgraded pads (if my mpc doesn't have them)? Or just more sound flash samples off of ebay or w/e? Am I even doing the loading correctly?

Thanks!

The "insufficient space" message is because of insufficient RAM. Has nothing to do with the size of the card or the need for a hard drive. Chances are the 1GB card will serve you well for a little while, at least until you get more proficient with using your 1K. Then you can worry about hard drives and other upgrades.

As far as the pads go, I would say if they feel good to you, don't worry about upgrading them either.

Just make music, and when you push your 1K to its limits, worry about upgrading it then.

thanks guys.
So pretty much ram would be the first upgrade suggestion?

I figured that the 1gb card would do the trick for now.
I'll check to see if my pads are good later when I'm back home. If they aren't the upgraded pads I just don't want them to wear out on me-I guess when that happens I'll obviously buy the upgrade kit.

I'll get the 128mb ram for sure.

so it looks like when I move a pad up and down the pad above it or below it moves as well.
I'm estimating that I have the pad upgrade? Also when I hit a pad the pad aside that pad moves a small amount as well.

So seeing how I prob. have the padupgrade already that takes that possible upgrade out of the picture.
So I was thinking the 128mb ram chip is next along with some flash cards with sounds on them? Then fill up the 1gb flash I have and eventually get a larger flash card.
