How to configure MPC 2500 as MIDI controller like an MPD ?

Hi,

We have an MPC 2500 in the studio and we would like to use it as a midi controller.
We would like to use the PADS to trigger a sampler like Native Instruments Battery.

Can somebody explain me wich configurations I have to make on the MPC and Cubase SX3 to do this?

Well, first are you pretty proficient with both? And have you ever used a midi keyboard to trigger NI before? It's not difficult to do but you'll have to do most of your setting up within Cubase moreso than dealing with the mpc.

The mpc side is pretty simple. I usually hit the midi button on the 4k followed by changing the drum pad destination to "midi out-A". It would also help to know everything you're working with so that there won't be any confusion on either side.

Need I go any further?

We are familiar with MIDI-keyboards/controllers.
Our only problem is that we can't find out how to setup the MPC so that it will act like a midi-keyboard, but then with the MPC pads.

When we now hit a pad we can't see any midi signal in cubase, it just doesn't respond.
The connection between PC and MPC should be OK, so i gues it's something we need to configure in the MPC so that it sends out midi when we hit a pad.

My apology dude. Well, at least from the way that I do this on the 4k, I'd hit the "midi" button. From there I select the F1 button on the mpc (routing) and change the drum pad destination to "midi out-A".

Once you've done that, you should see some sorta activity within Cubase (providing the right port is selected and the midi cable isn't bad).
