Chopping/cutting a sound w/o saving it?

Hey guys.
I have a really quick question.

Is there a way to trim/cut a sample on my mpc1000 without having to overwrite the pre-exsisting sound or save it as a new sound sample?
For example I have some sounds that came on this flash drive that the guy I bought my mpc off of included. I want to cut out a specific sound from that sound, or at least make the sound shorter.
Is there a way to do this without having to save it as a new sound??

I just bought ram upgrade to 128mb, should be here in a few days--right now running off of 16mb is just redicolous, everytime I make a new sound/do any splicing/cutting/chopping of a new sound and try to save the chopped sample it says insufficent memory. lol

I don't own a 1000 BUT this may work. Did you try copying the sound to another pad? You can then set the Start and End points on the sample so that it plays only what you higlighted. Since you are using just one sample, just adjusting playback position, it may not use any additonal memory....or Not....

ya I figured it out.
Sense all the sounds are on my flash drive I can edit the start/stop position, and just not save/overwrite the sound--and if I do chop it up real nice I can always just save it ("extract" it) as a new sound sample/name.

Or import and use a good editor and save the edited versions on a card like clint suggested, or save it to your comps HD.

I actually do have a card reader for my comp-reads flash, or other mediums (for digital cameras and the like) and comes in real handy.
Eventually I may get a harddrive for the mpc-but not needed anytime soon.
I think my 1gig will be plenty. But in the mean time I got the extra ram for the mpc which will help out a lot with loading bigger samples etc.


btw anyone ever record audio to the mpc directly from their comp? (just hookup the output of the computer to a splitter adapter then run it into mpcs inputs?) Does the mpc record mono if stuff is plugged into the left input channel only?
