Im kind of stuck on which one. i have the 1000 and it works great. however there are some specs about the 2500 that catch my eye, some are physical and others are about the os.

tilt screen-dope because hovering over my 1000 is getting old and hurts my neck
solid pads-bang out without worrying about dead pads
10 outs
auto chop-pretty cool still like chopping the old way
zoom in/out- I can visualize the sample better
cd drive expansion- i can save or burn my work to cd. and I dont have to use my cdj to sample from cd.

Now I know I can easily download the jj os for free and save money, but arent there some bugs with it or doesnt it affect your mp in a way? i just skimmed through the jj forum so I didnt really get a full view on it. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat, but I think I am going to have both.... Which is unnecessary, but I want to keep the 2500 in my studio with all the outs connected to my interface, and then I can have my 1000 be mobile and take it places, etc.... I also really like those big pads on the 2500, and the CD Burner would be killer for just bumping some beats and hearing them before tracking them out, mixing them, mastering them, etc.... Zzzzzzzz by the time I get done with all of that I am sick of the beat. LOL

Let me know what you come up with on this too.

You can zoom in on the 1000 (maybe just in JJOS I can't remember), you can also auto chop in some ways (kind of).... so really you are paying for 10 out, tilt screen, bigger pads....

you're using a 1000 with akai os?
might be a good idea to visit the 1000 jjos pages and have a look at what it does before you buy a 2500. a flip up screen and ten outs (instead of four) are the only feature missing from your wishlist.

read up more guys, yes u get a bigger unit and 4 extra outs but is that worth the extra $$$. think of all the other cool things you could buy with the $$ saved eg. sound modules, compressors, vinyl, a sweet upgrade on your computer etc u get the drift

Really - I'd go with beach_break and Frags here.

Before you even think of shelling out the extra money for a 2500 - look into getting jjos and put it on your mpc 1000.

I used to own an mpc 1000 and spent a week with akai os and the rest of the time with jjos - it really does bring the 1000 closer to the 2500.

and stick a couple of books under the back of your mpc 1000

Still I want one. I must have a 2500 next to my 1000. Won't make me a better producer. It just makes me a more satisfied gear freak

well if u can afford both of them why not i have my big girl(2500) at home and my young(1000) one i take everywhere. i just dont like to plug and unplug all the cables from my 2500 all the time plus the 1000 is portable i can take it to work everyday. lol

Came down to a conclusion. I decided not to go the 2500 route. 1 reason I really dont have the loot for it right now, and 2 some of the main features I was looking into I can download for free with the jj os. So I downloaded the jj os today. lets see what I can make happen. Thanks to everyone for their input. peace!

i once took a friend to the dog races, he went up to a bookie and put $2 on every dog in the race. the bookie said 'mate, it's people like you who keep the industry alive - no formal trainng.'

in that spirit, i'd like to thank you for keeping akia alive and afloat so they keep providing service and support for my gear should i need it.
