Drum patterns

Their's this certain style of drum pattern I've been trying to do for some time now.
And I cant seem to get it right. I've tried 16th notes with various swing, triplets,
shift timing, timing off, step edit. It just does not sound right!.

What is this fool doing. How do you get your drum patterns to sound like that.

learn ur machine ( ur only gonna get dumbed on if u dont put in that work ).............
& iam not tryin 2 clown ya, so don't get offended........ read the manual or get that tutorial e-book......

yo son maybe try not quantizing them? then again now that i listen his drums do sound quantized. dont quantize the hats, but quantize the kicks to 60-70? i dont have my machine on so its hard to tell wat percentage swing he has on the kicks.

Sounds like 1/16th quantize with some added swing to me.

why don't you ask the dude in the video?

if you want to quantise. try 1/8 for the kicks claps/snare. 1/16 for hats.
you could also practise by sampling the beat on the video, loop it up and play along with it.

Thats easy man.. i only quantize the hi hats.

A little rhythmic feeling might help as well.

How many bars are you setting your patterns at? From a couple of the previous post that suggested to go 1/16, I'd follow through with those ideas at the least.

It does however sound like it's a pretty basic 4 or 8 bar pattern.

I started messing with the swing more it's sounding better.
F**k it yo i am just gonna master this machine.

All you have to do is swing the kick drums around %65 or play it good without quantize. Or else only swing the sixteen notes kicks.... So record one pass with the basic pattern then add the sixteenth note accents with the swing changed.

Sorry Objektivone I don't quite understand you. Your saying lay down a 1/16th
note drum pattern without swing. Then overdub the same pattern with 65% swing
just on the kick drum.

70% swing early

How do you add swing early or later isn't that just for shift timing.

When I quantize usually 1/16(3) is the setting I record drums on. Not always though. Also, sometimes I will OVERDUB --> ERASE portions of the track I don't like and then OVERDUB ---> RECORD with different quantize settings (or off) to get the swing or feel I'm looking for..
