Creating a Song

What is the best way to create and manage a song?

Am I doing this right...

1 Sequence for an Intro...1 for a verse...1 for a chorus...etc

Multiple tracks in each...here's the question

When I record a sequence and go to track mute section...I mute and un-mute at certain points...how do I get the track to stay that way??

Then the main question...after I create a song...how do I export it to a managing program (ex. ACID) to edit/format to a wav. for burning onto CD.

I have the Mpc 5000 and when i mute a track it stays muted. I dunno why yours doesnt stay muted..

If u have used samples in the mpc u can export the beat in to the harddrive of the mpc(never had the mpc1000 so im not sure how) but an easier way is to record through your mixer or soundcard if you have one.

learn how to create a song first, umoving too fast.

Make any number of sequences you like, in song mode
chain them together in whatever order you want them to playback.

Make sure all seq tracks are lined up with the same instruments that are in the next seq.

ie.

seq1/trk1=kick/trk2=snr/trk3=tom/trk4=bass/trk4=piano
seq2/trk1=kick/trk2=snr/trk3=tom/trk4=bass/trk4=piano
seq3/trk1=kick/trk2=snr/trk3=tom/trk4=bass/trk4=piano

Get that down first THEN get to know how to put a song on computer, u didn't even mention
what mpc u have AND/OR your gear setup.

If your going to ask for help, explain your WHOLE setup so that someone can give you exact
advise, don't make people guess.

i just need to learn how to export my songs from my mpc 2500 to my pc so i can put the shit on myspace..lol

Can you record live track mutes on your mpc, I don't know you'll have to find out. If no, then sequence it with the drops, meaning, if you don't want a certain sound to play then DONT record it into the sequence in the first place.

learn about your RECORD MAIN OUT in your manual.

You really should get into your manual. These questions would have been covered already by you understanding your machines basic capabilities from the manual, and then using that knowledge to formulate
a way to work it out with your equipment.

My creation process is build the entire song on one sequence initially. I layer everything the chorus melody the hook melody the bridge all on seq 1 while most everything is still playing (besides like different drum patterns). That way even tho things may be different and it may sound a little clogged, once you copy the sequence x amount of times and mute out the different intruments and drum patterns to your liking you have a smooth transition between your whole song. its also good if you plan on tracking out the song to say Pro Tools, you can just do it all from seq 1. thats just me tho.

Everything goes on 1 sequence then I get a feel of how I want to sequence it in song mode. From there I make copies of the sequence and work them how I want. I usually play a sequence no more than once (2-4 bars) before it plays in to the next sequence. It allows complete control over every bar in the song, but of course its more work. Well worth it tho. I hit play in song mode and everything is muted and comes in where it should from beginning to end, without having to hit pads on the track mute screen.
