Here's what I would do .... put the wrapping back around the unit, then place it in the box .... make sure the disks and cable are present also. And, finally, take it back to the place you bought it from, asking for a refund or to have a credit note to put towards a real MPC.
No, I am not trying to be sarcastic or rude. I speak from terriblw bitter experience of that unit. I bought it to use as a drum controller largely within my Cubase setup. It never worked properly at all ... and it wasn't just me either - there were many online that were posting very similar probs to me ... Akai were next to useless when it came to getting helpful answers are any kind of after-sales support too !
Basically, the unit would not sync in the expected way at all, rendering the Tap Tempo and Note Repeat functions useless .... the pads would oddly trigger out of sync on occasion too. Akai stated, when they eventually got back to me, that is was clearly a software problem with my system - a line that they gave to everybody else that bought the unit too that ended up having the same probs as me I gather after getting their feeback > ? The whole point of that unit is that through it's template system it was sup to be able to link, sync and control those standard sequencers in a plug and play manner .... Akai never stated anywhere in their parketting gumph that you would be reduced to hours upon frustrating hours having to try and tweak the thucking life out of the unit to make it half workable ... and even then ?!
Seriously, I sold the MPD32 after 8wks and put the money towards buying an MPC1000. My Gawd, what a difference ... everything worked on the MPC as expected and, better still, it synced straight up with my Cubase flawlessly. it became as simple as creating an audio track, arming it in record and hitting play - MPC then automatically recorded your pre-made pattern on the MPC immediately. Even more fantastically, I discovered that the MPC can be used very effectively as a controller for your software with the turn of the jog wheel on the MPC, and you then have all of those wonderful MPC functions working on your virtual insyruments too ( heaven ).If you can, back the mpd32 and get over to the real MPCs.
Give a little more, expect a little less ... but always put number 1 first !
