What up forum. I've been searching hard for this one with no luck. I'm sure it's out there so I appreciate anyone helping with the link or some help. Are you able to hook up the MPC 1000 to your computer using a USB cord, and get samples from windows player or itunes?

db PowerAmp has been my all-in-one converter for years. Look into an audio editor like Sound Forge to chop out ya samples. Forge has a nice play-looped function that helps you no matter how small you wanna chop 'em. The 1000 will be like a big card reader and show up in "my computer" as an external storage device. Make ya a folder called chops or something on the AKAI and deploy your drag-and-drop skills. Get that manual off the akai pro site, print that ish, and don't leave home without it. With the manual, the learning curve is minimal.

since i don't have a record player, and i don't know how people are supposed to chop on the mpc500, i just use the computer when i sample. i take a song, drag it into audacity (free program) then chop it and export all the sounds as wav files and then plug in my mpc and drag them on.. its simple

thanks for the help guys. another thing i was curious about was using your computer as your sound source. is there any way to hook up the mpc 1000 to use computer speakers for sound or is it necessary to buy studio monitors? i'm currently just using headphones.

How are you reading the replies if you don't know how to read you lazy phuck... RTFM..... It explains all of this... And if you can't figure that out, then go to youtube and have someone type in for you (Someone that can read and write) a search on MPC tutorials...

The questions you are asking are very basic... And anyone telling you to RTFM is not being Snobby or whatever you called him.

Start with the manual... Or just let some of the users here to spoon feed you until you get too damn annoying to answer anymore......

You touched a nerve with this one.. I never get upset on here.

hey dumbas*..check the manual and see if it tells you in there if you can use computer speakers as your main sound source. cuz obviously you haven't read the sh*t in awhile. if you're so annoyed with newcomers asking questions..create a group with all you stuck up f*cking experts. for everyone else who actually has patience to help teach us that are willing to learn..thank you. i search, youtube, google everything before i ask...and look atleast an hour or 2 before i post...so s*ck it you worthless prick.

tucker0_03013134234234 chill out, you're more angry then shwell. hes just saying that hes tired of people asking these kinds of questions.. its not gonna say the answer on the internet or manual because its the type of question that you should figure out by trying it. if your computer speakers are seperate from your computer (not built in) then you should be able to use them. just unplug them and plug them into your mpc.

OP ( that means Original Poster), I have reread you questions and your replies. And I stand behind my original comments on this thread... Your question to most of us reads like the ABC's of the MPC... Pretty basic stuff... The manual covers this stuff.. To be exact start on Page 50 (Users Manual) and go from there... Page 5 in the Quik start manual has pictures for you to follow in order to record samples... You still with me? (Back to the Users Manual) Page 89 is the beginning of the save/load info, but I guess you have to fgure out the sampling stuff b4 you can save anything. So skip to page 98 of the manual, here it comes "Connecting the MPC to your Computer.

Now I have given you the necessary guidance needed to get the info you need and also help you get other info you WILL need in the near future...

Most songs on peeps computers these days are in some form of MP3/MP4 or something, and kept in a folder named "My Music". It does not matter where the music came from; Limewrie/Itunes/My Music.. The MPC only recognizes .wav. So in order to take music from your PC/Mac you must first figure out a way to convert said formats....

You can try google and put in music format converter.....

You can go to downloads.com and search music converter

You can go to yahoo.com and search for music converter

searching MP3 converter may help too

These will all point you in the direction you need to go in for said info.... But I will feed you some info.... 1 hour and you cannot figure out how to convert a file.. You sir fail at the Internet.....

So with all the nonsense out of the way.... you can download a program such as Audacity (Search "Audacity" on Downloads.com) and you can drag and drop mp3's into it and then export them as .wav files.... Once you do that, you can then drag and drop them into your MPC.... The beauty of Audacity is, that it has a wonderful visual of the files so you can also chop the sample in Audacity and only take what you need from it.

I have provided useful info, now it is up to you to run with it. You may also want to invest in the Tutorial offered by this site, I got it and love it.. It is very helpful and more than worth the asking price....
