how to hook up a record player to my mpc 1000

so im new to the whole mpc thing so for give me if im using the wrong turms but i have a mpc 1000 and im trying to hook up my record playing to it to record sum sampples to chop up but ive ran into a problem the red and hite rc cables dont fit into to the record in holes in my mpc..do i need to buy adapters like for the head fones or do i need a mixer or sum other system????
