What is the difference between these two products and what's more old skool sounding? you know how you get that real clear but rugged sound

They're just controllers that trigger notes....what do you mean by "old school sounding"?
Sometimes I still laugh out loud about the beat kangz and that time some English dude hacked the Akai marketing website and stole a bunch of pictures of the Ren before it was released.

1. They are two different products from two different manufacturers, they both happen to be midi controllers and have pads.
2. As neither product produces any sound (audio) the rest of your question makes no sense.

say if i have a MPC 3000 and a MPC500, the 3000 will sound more natural towards hip hop where as the 500 is built for more todays sounds

yup, but what you obviously don't get is the fact, that trigger finger and mpd24 DO NOT PRODUCE SOUNDS on their own. they're just keyboards which you plug to your pc or some sampler/synth. your question sounds like: which keyboard is better for writing poems: logitech or microsoft...

Your question makes no sense because the two midi controllers you mentioned just tell a computer to play a sound, where as MPCs actually have memory etc. which store the sound and effect it/give it a certain color. MIDI controllers don't change or color the sound because they don't hold sounds they just tell software when to play.
