Mixing, Recording, EQing

If I had an MPC-3000, and I wanted to work with strictly hardware, What do I need to eq each sound I sample, whether it's a kick, snare or a piano stab? After I'm done what is the best hardware approach to recording the music?

When sampling, eq your sounds in with an equilizer (a 7 or 9 band eq should do it, although there are pro-quality eqs available). Check what sound you're focused on and boost or cut. Like a bassline? then boost the lows and cut the mids and highs. Like a snare? then boost the mids and cut the lows and highs. etc.
You can eq how you want though.

If the beat is nice already, then I just record it directly to cd. Most times I throw beats into my 8trk recorder.

the way i do is to have one of the individual outs going into my eq, and then resample.
