Should I buy a 2000xl MPC with a broken slide for $300. I don't know much at all about mpc. I think the slide is the round knob you can rotate. Is the slide easy to fix. Where can i get it fixed and for how much?

Can the MPC 2000xl sample mp3s or just vinyl. If so how?

Thanks a lot. I'll take any help i can get.

but umm for your main question.

and as long as you have this kind of cable, notice the two different ends?

you could connect like your ipod to the mpc. or your gameboy. or your cd player or whatever fits...

There is a pad, slider and data (jog) wheel check on the MPC2000XL just to verify if it works or not.

IMHO... I'd check just to make sure everything else works on the 2KXL. If it's just the slider or jog wheel thats bad, I'd talk him down in price. I'm an electrician so swapping out those parts are a breeze for me.
You are still getting a great MPC for the $300 though.

looking at this plug, why would you want to sample an ipod in mono? thats a mono 1/4 plug. sampling an mp3 from an ipod in mono im sure would sound like shit.

it's because the picture doesn't show the two quarter inch jacks... and the cable wont make anything sound more sh!t then it sounds already.....

oh.. i see what you mean now..

awww man. i need to get me that one. i have the one with one to one. i got it a long ass time ago when i first got my mpc. and i got it for that very reason

starting out. no turntable. was just sampling off a portable cd player and a casetter player.

but now i use it to get my beats out of the computer. since i have no DAW the only way to get my beats out from reason is to sample it into the mpc.

i never even thought of getting that one!

thanks!!!

i sequence on the mpc. the only thing on reason is the NNXT, redrum, subtractors. just modules.
all the midi information, sequences. etc. etc. is on the mpc.

i just use reason as a sound module.
