Recording guitars into 4000??

I've been strictly a Motif user and have recorded my electric and bass guitar into my Motif. I want an Mpc and I feel as if the 500, 1000, and 2500 are for beginners. The 4000 and 5000 fit the bill but I'm going to buy a 4000 definately if I can plug a 1/4 or MIC jack into the 4000 and record my guitars?

I know Battery and Guitar Rig 3 can do all of this but I don't want to be reliant on a computer except for mixing in Pro Tools. Would I need to upgrade anything, the outs, ADAT? I will be buying one in the next month so any additional advice would be helpful.

So far I know the following:

MPC 4000:

128 tracks- Very useful since I make actual songs with intros, verses, etc.....
Track and step sequencing- I also do live performances and this would be perfect
300,000 Notes- Very useful

U got it all wrong....
Just because u have a MPC 1000 doesnt mean u are a newb..
U can make as good beats with a 1000 as with a 4000.
Most ppl start with the 1000 and is happy with it.
So if u really want a MPC i suggest u get the 1000, 2000XL or the 5000
Some ppl arent really happy with their 5000 cause of the bugs, but im a 5000 user and i havent had any problems so far.

Honestly........I've played around with most of them and just find the 4000 to be more user friendly.

I know how to sequence (which is the biggest problem for beginners) and imo the layout is unmatched by any other mpc that I've tested.
