How the Deuce do I play a LOOP?

So I've had my 2000XL for about a week and I'm really enjoying it. The only problem I'm having is that when I go to the trim menu and try to loop it, I can't figure out out to actually play the loop to make sure it's a legit loop. What I want to do is set my start/end points and push a button that will let me hear what I have selected as a loop.

On the LOOP tab of the TRIM screen, turn the LOOP field to ON.
Then hold down any PAD to hear your sample looping.

Hold a PAD! I kept trying to do it with the Play X.
