My first MPC just shipped, purchased a MPC 5000. I've never had any experiance with an MPC, or a drum machine. Just a love for music, especially hip hop and trance.

I agree -- when you're completely new to the MPC world, any model would look/feel foreign to you. So why not start with the MPC5000 if that happened to be the model you wish to use?!
