Transferring & Opening Files

Hi, I got my MPC a few days ago and I've browsed around on these forums looking for an answer to my question, which is basically:

How do I transfer songs, saved on MPC 1000, to my computer so I can transfer them to .MP3 etc?

I've got a few CF cards, and I've plugged them into my computer and the files that are saved (.PRG, .ALL, etc) are unreadable on my system. Is there a piece of software that can read these files and then help me convert them to .MP3?

I'm sorry if these has been asked before but I've looked around, I just don't know how exactly to search my question is ways others may have asked.

There are many different ways to do this, what is your setup, what gear do you have?
You didn't give us anything to go by!?!

prj.. all.. are akai only files, not for computer, only for your mpc, there are other files in the mpc that are like that also, you'll figure them out as you go.

Is there a piece of software that can read these files and then help me convert them to .MP3?

My setup? I've only got an MPC 1000 and computer. I thought, probably naively, that I could transfer songs from the MPC via my CF cards.

Sorry, I can't see how that helps me transfer files from my MPC to audio on my computer? :S

you have two options for getting your music from the mpc to the computer.
1/ track out -- hit play on mpc and record sound into a DAW on you computer. you'll need a sound card for that.

2/ usb transfer. resample each track of your song, then use the usb cable to transfer wav file from mpc to computer. this is the option you want to take.

a search will get you all the details. but basically: you resample each track -- and so end up with a wav file lasting the whole length of your song for each track.

so you can synch up your tracks when they are in the computer: place one bar with four snare hits at the beginning of each resampled track (use sequence function to do this). then line up the snare hits of each track in your computer and each track will be synched. delete the snares and viola, your song.

Use this to make a WAVE file that you can save to your CF card and transfer to your computer. where you can use your own software to convert it to an mp3.
