you can also find where your battery .wav files are stored on your comp and load them into your mpc that way too.
(someone on the forum told me that a couple years ago, you just gotta look for where they are, native instuments will tell you that its impossible but it isnt thier just hidden well)
and if you dont wana drop a million on a dj mixer and viynl i would suggest the numark pt-01 it has the capability to run on batteries also so you can take it digging with you. and its only 90 bucks. another plus with this is the pt-01 has a phono preamp built into it so you dont need an expensive dj mixer to get it started.
they also make cheap usb turntables for around 120 and i beleive you can just plug the usb cord in and push play on the record and click record in your daw (the one i was looking at comes with audacity) and your set.
i would link you that usb one, but i cant find it right now, do some searchin.
if you dont mind the small screen, a 500 is alot cheaper than a 1000 but you can find both very reasonably priced on ebay or whatever. i a 500 and im happy with it, sometimes it sucks it only has 12 pads instead of 16 though, and no waveform editor kinda sucks if you want one, but i always do that on the computer with soundforge anyway.
but beware of the older blue 1000's cuase some of them had a pad issue and a few of the first or second pressings of the black 1000s do, but they have fixed that by now. just be sure to ask about pad issues in the past or when they bought it.
if your not into chopping samples on the screen of the mpc, i would suggest soundforge audio studio its only like 50 bucks and you can get super exact chops with it. there is also other freeware programs like audacity that you can chop on but i feel that soundforge is unmatched when it comes to chopping samples, so much so that i will go through the trouble of transferring files from my pc to my mac after every chop session on my pc.
dont get me wrong, i still use my pc for alot of other things, but soundforge is a pc only program and i feel that it just works way better for me than any mac program out there, so i still use it even though i make all my music with logic 8 on my macbook pro.
