Hello everyone. I am a new member here at the forums, and am looking for some help.

I soon plan to get an MPC500 as an intro into music production. I am young and hope to make it a career someday. I am very interested in Rap/Hip-Hop Beats. Here are my questions:

1. I pretty much know nothing. What hardware do I need to set up an MPC500 and start producing beats and sequences on it? Do I need to buy an Audio Interface? If so, which one?

2. I am interested in creating beats in the same type of way rapper Kanye West does, i.e: I would like to use old jazz samples, old blues samples, etc. I was wondering how do I get the music from an old song and sample perhaps Patty Labelle onto a beat I made with the MPC500.

Thats all I could think of now, I will think of more in a litttle while.

Who can help?

do you own a mixer?

do you own a turntable?

Do you own a keyboard, that features MIDI out?

Can you play an instrument?

Do you understand the musical concept of rhythm?

I do not own a mixer or a turntable. Plan to buy a MIDI keyboard, can't play an instrument but I do understand the musical concept of rhythem. I have a really good computer, Quad-Core with 4Gb of RAM.
