cd player sampling

I'd like to use a cd player to put samples on my mpc. Do i just need a basic home stereo cd player with the standard red and white rca aux/phono inputs?

It would be outputs, but a portable CD player with a line out, or even the headphone jack would work. You'd just need a 1/8" to dual 1/4" TS.

what mpc do you have? 1k and 500 have a usb connection. not sure if any other models do.
anyway, you can rip a cd on your computer and then drag it to your mpc without any loss in quality. if you record in to the mpc from a cd player the sound has to go through two sets of analogue/digital convertors.

I have an mpc 1000 and i've tried dragging an entire song into my mpc with the intention of cutting and deleting the parts i don't need. But the file didn't show up. I think it's because it was an mp3 file. If so, how do i convert it to wmv?

The MPC will not read MP3. You can convert it to WAV in itunes.

Where is that option in itunes? Is it the same as converting to AAC?

in the preferences, change the import to WAV 16 bit. then restart iTunes. After that you will be able to right click on the file and it will give you the option to convert to WAV

okay, so I converted the song to WAV on itunes. I dragged it out from its file and put it on my desktop. After I loaded the mpc via USB and tried to drop the WAV file into the mpc, an error popped up saying the directory or file cannot be created.

I did have a card in, and it was in USB mode. I also have a manual. The manual actually says that i cannot load/save samples to and from the connection at all. Which is why in my original post I was asking about using a cd player to sample.

you may want to re read that part in the manual. The USB is awesome for transferring a ton of samples minus the conversion.

dude.then you must have a special 1000 series cause i can load up Compact Flash cards on mines........


does no disk image appear on your desktop or under "my computer", did you accidentally lock the disk.....?
