BEGINNER QUESTIONS (for MPC 1000)

What is the best tool to reference (ie manual, specific websites, youtube, etc) when learning to use the MPC for the 1st time?
I have many questions and don't want to flood this forum with questions that I'm sure will sound very trivial to most users.
Are there any full step-by-step tutorials that take you through technical steps of making a sample beat?

This is where I'm at:

1)I imported a sample.
2)I chopped it and programed it to the pads.
3)I assigned some stock drums (kick and clap).
5)I set bars to 4.
4)I tried to record my 1st track, but the drums cut off my sample sound.
5)Tried to assign my sample pads to group mute 1, still no change.

Questions i'm left with:

1)Why do the drums cut off the sample?
2)How can i see my track in a "time line" perspective?
3)How can i make the song longer than than the first amount of bars that i choose?
4)How do i copy a track and paste it again so that it plays for twice as long?

As i said i have many questions. The manual really isn't the best teacher for me. It's easy when you know someone that uses the same equipment, but i don't.

Is that what you did when you 1st started?
It really shouldn't be that hard. I can sample stuff using Sonar 8 PRO. I'm an expert with REASON 4. My next task now is to master this MPC sampling so i can make some more classy beats.

put your head down and do work son. attack problems as you meet them.
there is no easy path or source that is going to hold your hand unless you find a good friend to show you.

seriously! just do work and you will find solutions with time. that's what i did and it worked a treat.
effort>time>results

drums cut off sample cause its on mono instead of poly

to see a timeline perspective you have to go into song mode

to make the track longer (again go to song mode,,or copy bars)

to copy bars - mode+pad 13+bars and then adjust..

Hey thanks. I have another quick question. When you are in the middle of a project and want to save what exactly do you save? Do you need to save both the SEQ and the PROGRAM? I know how to save the SEQ, but i still can't figure out how to save the PROGRAM. I know I am just starting out, but would you recommend i get another flash card? Or a RAM upgrade?

when you go to save..go to the "type" file and scroll through there...

when saving,,you need to save
"all sequences and songs"
and
"all programs and samples"

manual is the first and foremost tool for learning the mpc. not only does it simply and directly answer all the questions you asked, it'll also show you all that the mpc can do.

what OS are you running? Akia or JJOS? have alook at JJOS if you'r not already runing that.

When i go to Save/program it asks if i want to also save my samples. But when i go to Save/Sequence it only asks if i want to save the SEQ or the MIDI. It never mentions anything about a song. I have not seen "save song" as an option.
I am running my MPC on jj OS 3.09

save the seq and something I learned early is to always name your samples and seq because it will over write anything with the same name

I have a silly question to ask... I've finished a fairly simple beat...but i have no clue how transfer/convert whatever terminology ppl call it...out of the mpc to a computer

Use the appropriate leads to connect the output of the MPC to the input of the computer, and record it using appropriate software on the computer.

If you want to record the audio, connect the audio output to an audio input and record the audio. If you want to record midi data, connect midi out to midi in and record the midi sequence.
