Two questions about my recordplayer and Sampler

Just registered on MPC-forums and have two questions, since it looks like people here know what they are talking about.

I have some problems with my recordplayer, it always stops up and repeats itsself like there was something wrong with the record. Since it happens with all my records i think it has something to do with my needle/catridge and my settings. So my first question is what kind of cartridge i should get and if there is any manuals to find to set the recordplayer straight. It's an Akai AP-206.

My second questions regards my connection to my sampler, S3000 XL. Will i need a phono preamp connected? Got pretty shitty sound with not to much input so that was my first theory.

stops and repeats itself? or just skips back and repeats?

You might need to increase the tracking weight on the cartridge, to stop it bouncing out of the groove. I don't know how to do that on an akai turntable, but usually you turn the weight at the back of the tonearm. Try to find a manual online, that should say how to correctly balance the tonearm

make sure your TT is on a solid level surface. If there is an anti-skating control knob, try adjusting that.
