control of sample playback via midi cc?

hello,

am wondering what, if any, options there are on the mpc models for controlling sample playback (i.e. choosing a different sample to playback) based on a midi cc value?

my intention is to use the mpc as a sound module for roland v-drums. when programming the hi-hat, a midi cc value (the hi-hat pedal position) is used to determine which hi-hat sample (open versus closed) is played. this must occur as well as the usual velocity data determining which sample is played.

am looking for a hardware option to reduce latency typical with computer-based systems (such as running battery via a pc)

Maybe the DecaySwitch feature might help you.

Example:
Pad 1 = closed HH
Pad 2 = open HH

now go to the program menu -> ASSIGN and hit Pad 3
choose the DCY SW on the MODE: setting and set the IF OVER parameters

If over: 0 use A01 (this will trigger the Pad 1)
If over: 80 (or so) use A02 (this will trigger Pad 2)

Now Pad 3 will trigger Pad 1 OR Pad 2, depending what the decay parameter is set to.


Ok now you need to change the decay parameter in realtime.
You can do this with the NV Slider:

SHIFT + AFTER button (above the NV slider)
Now hit Pad 3, change the PARAMETER: from TUNING to DECAY and change the high and low range to 100 (high) and something like 40 (low)

Now hit the Pad 3 and move the slider. the sample should change if you move the slider above a specific point.

Ok but you want to use your foot pedal to switch between those samples. The Assign NV slider to ctrl change feature can do this.
Set this parameter to the number of the midi cc of your foot pedal. I guess its somewhere in the manual if you dont know it already. If not you can aks here again and I will tell you how you find out.

are those features you mentioned supported in all mpc models, or just in the higher end ones (mpc 2500 and above?)

is there an equivalent to "round robin" sample playback (useful for snare rolls, where the same pad sequentially triggers the left hand hit then the right hand hit. avoids the "machine gun" sound of snare roll and sounds more realistic)

I dont know the functions of the 1000 / 2500 / 4000 I was talking bout the 2000 classic which I own.
A "round robin" function is not possible with the 2000 but there is also a velocity switch function on the 2000 (but still just two samples are allowed here )
