i recently got a tascam us144 audio interface. i am new to using them sometimes when im using my mpc 1000 and reason 4.0 my sound driver stops working.what causes this, is it my cpu or the interface? is there settings that i need to adjust so this does not happen? i have read about bad soundcard drivers causing problems but was just wondering if there is something i can do to prevent this. i am running windows xp sp3 and my soundcard says its compatible. also when using the soundcard can i run all my audio through it? i.e. youtube and reason at the same time thanks alot for your reply.

It could be alot of things, make sure you have the latest drivers. What are your system specs? It's a USB interface so what other USB devices do you have hooked up to your computer? Try making sure each device is on a different host controller.

Yep, it could be his chipset. Does tascam give a list of compatible chipsets that work or not? Maybe a firmware update? I was thinking along the lines of how digidesign gives support on what works with their stuff.

If there's another computer to test his us144, I'd conduct this test to see if it's a hardware issue (comp & s/c) or s/w problem.
