MPC 4000 IS ALWAYS A FRACTION WHEN I SYNC TO PROTOOLS

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP. IM STARTING TO RESENT BUYING THIS MACHINE. IT SYNCS TO MY PROTOOLS AS WELL AS LOGIC BUT AFTER IT RECORDS TO THE GRID ITS ALWAYS A FRACTION BEHIND THE START OF THE BAR. MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ACCURATE LOOP. PLEASE HELP!!!!

but try inserting two blank bars in the begining of your sequenceand let it get a little extra time to sync

If it's audio you're recording, latency is likely responsible. Maybe first check your s/c's buffer settings (w/ the lowest option selected). What I do is line up what's there and it's set. Just make sure you change the grid resolution to the highest or near the highest setting, move what it is you want to move, then set the reso back to where ever you had it before.

i think i know what he is talking about because i experience the same thing when i sync my mpc with reason, The sequencer is always a little off and it makes it difficult to do anything. It really doesn't matter to me because I generally use my mpc strictly for sampling but i thought i would try and help elaborate on the subject.

^^^I made mention about it more on the back end rather than the initial issue itself. Then there's other factors that could be the cause.

First, I'd look at the other hardware pieces that play a part in syncing everything together. What s/c's are being used? Any external midi routers being used other than the basic one in, one out config found on the s/c. Have you tried alternating between midi time code and midiclock on the mpc?

Have the drivers been updated or any hardware firmware updates done pertaining to any of the core components of the system?

Could be a number of things, or it could be just one. What's being used if you don't mind me asking?

i have the same issue with my PT rig.

I record out of 4k into Tools, making a new playlist for each of the sequences on the mpc and letting each seq run through 3 times. then go back and use the "tab to transient" mode in PT, find the downbeat and cut all the tracks at the same point (say the start of the kick), then delete the unused portion preceding the recording. if you drag the files back to bar 1 beat 1 everything should line up more of less. do that for every sequence/playlist.

then, find the downbeat of the second time through the sequence (cause i recorded it three times) copy the 4/8bar loop and paste and arrange it on a new playlist. as long as your tracks are grouped together it shouldn't be a huge deal.
