im recording from audacity....

mpc input output into a splitter into the jack in the back of the computer, and then recording with audacity

basically ive been given good feeback on beats, but that my sounds are a little off,

im thinking i should try mpc, to mixer, and then recording into a different program that isnt audacity should fix my problem...

my question is, would that fix the problem?/im thinking ableton live... but im not really sure what the perfect program would be. thanks alot for the help in advance, it means alot

Yeah, right now you got 1 input on the back of your computer. So any aftermarket 2-4-8 input system is going to be 100% better..
Here's the TIP of the iceberg... My 2 minute search for ya
$100 if you have PCI slots avail, includes MIDI in/out and Digi in/out:

If you've got no PCI slots, go USB. Has Mic pre's and can run a guitar/bass direct::

If you have a MAC, or have Firewire available. 5 input, mic pre:

keep up da beats!

buy an audio interface. it will act as your new soundcard and everything will (or should) run smoothly through it. also, make sure your not buying cheap cables and also make sure you've got them plugged in all the way.

Your factory soundcard(manufactured with your computer) more than likely has an eigth inch jack(same size as a headphone jack)... that whole is extremely tiny, you cannot expect a quality sound when you are squashing your sounds through that small hole.... you need a new soundcard/audio interface that supports quarter inch (larger)input.

That would be the first step. Try that before you ditch Audacity for another DAW. I have heard top notch music come out of that program.

Get an Audio interface, not a new sound card!!! The interface takes the place of the card.

As far as a DAW, that might depends on what type of computer you have. If you have a Mac I'd say Logic. It's a lot nicer than most. I personally prefer Pro Tools but it's not for everyone. If you have a PC you should check out Sonar.

Of course there are plenty of other DAW's that are nice it's really just a matter of preference. I know that recently Reaper has caught a lot of buzz. Some people seem to like it but I think it's mostly because of it's price tag. It's inexpensive. That might be the direction to look in.

EDIT: Just saw that you have a Mac. Check out Logic man. That's all I can say.
