I went about learning the MPC500 on my own, and I think I've developed a lot of bad habits and I can't figure out how to work around them. The instruction manual is not the easiest thing to wade through.

I play out live a lot, and since I improvise, I decide what samples I'm going to use as I'm setting up my equipment, and I make some "backbone" sequences so there's some transitions between styles. And although it hasn't happened to me yet, if the power shorted out or something, I would have to turn the MPC back on and start again.

Is it possible to turn the MPC on and have banks A-D already equipped with samples, and have 10 or 12 sequences already preprogrammed? I have tried so many times to figure this out, but it never sticks when I turn it back on.

I don't use the Track function to build my songs... I purely let the Overdub ride and just evolve beats as I'm playing.

Not sure how to unlearn what I do and get this going.

Thanks.

Did you see autoload in the manual? Remember Autoload and look into it.
Where is the Autoload and can you replace files in it with your own files? What files to replace
so that the 500 will autoload samples. seqs, and songs?

These are questions I'd be asking myself and looking up in the manual.

Ctrl + F = FIND.

Use keywords

"Autoload"

...maybe

+1, load everything you want into memory, then save it to a folder you title "autoload".
