MPC1000 - Do I need a mixer to use speakers?

I've been using the headphones but I want use speakers, but I'm not sure where I would plug in my speakers.

Do I need a mixer in order to this or will I be stuck with using headphones until I get a mixer?

You dont need a mixer, you can connect powered monitors directly to the MPC. Although I personally wouldnt. But to get started yea...it would work.

if you get active speakers you can connect the mpc output to them directly (but using a mixer would give you more options)

if you get passive speakers then you need to connect them to an amp, you can't connect them directly to the mpc or a mixer
