I was wondering if anyone could help me get past this

my sound module has say 300 sounds
but when selecting what sound I want to use from the module, I can't go past 128 on the MPC

how can I use sound # 145 ????

To get past the original MIDI limit of 128 patches/ sounds the BANK SELECT function is used.

Each BANK is able to contain 128 patches/ sounds, either numbered 0-127 or 1-128 depending on the manufacturer of the device (sound module/ synth etc) being controlled.

Search your MPC manual for information on how to insert/ use PROGRAM CHANGES and BANK SELECT commands (MSB & LSB). You would also expect to find this information in the manual of any multi-timbral synth/ sound module.

if your module doesnt have msb, lsb.....

use moc to change to prg 128
then on your module press + on it to increase patch no to 129
now you can control the next 128 with your mpc
