When you buy a mpc does it come with sounds on it or do you have to put them in it???

Comes with sounds, but there aren't any good ones.

There's tons of aftermarket kits for any mpc. You don't have to settle for the basics.

If you're not sure if you'll keep making beats with an MPC, settle for the MPC500 (or a used 2000xl). If you see you love making beats and will continue to do so, then you can still upgrade later on. Also... a turntable (with a decent cartridge), a mixer and lots of vinyl.

When did Akai start making the mpc100? Is this that Dick Tracy watch sized mpc folks been talking about?

Ha ha...just kidding.
