So I hear there is a beta... I just bought a pc with windows 7 on it 32/64 and I wanna know if I'm going to be able to use the protools on it properly with either the 32 or the 64 bit version. Anyone have any experience or knowledge regarding this

What version of win 7 do you have? Pro & Ultimate have an XP mode to allow you to run legacy programs.

Plus what bit version will you be using? You mentioned 32 & 64 bit on the same machine.

It's either one or the other, but not both.

it is both, i have a disk partition so on booting i can pick which bit. I have professional btw. So i can switch to xp to run the program or i can run the program by running it in xp mode? (by that i mean, will the xp be local to the program or will i have to run xp as the entire OS. And sorry but what do you mean by legacy programs?

Theoretically, you're supposed to be able to switch to xp mode if you have older (legacy) programs that function better under that option.

Plus, are you using a seperate hd to store your files, or do you save them to the same hd even though it's partioned?

im saving applications on the same HD, but storage files such as sounds videos music etc on a separate one. If i have windows 7 64 bit and i install an application in xp mode, will i still be able to use all my RAM that i would with the 64 bit windows 7 even though im running the protools in xp mode? btw i havent yet received my comp, its being built for me at the store and theyre doing the partition for me. i have up to wednesday to make changes to what i want them to do, so if you have some insight on how im using the two drives let me know :) I have a 60gb solid state drive for the OS and a regular 1TB HArd Drive for storage.
