Just bought my first mpc (1000) and have a quick question:

I bought a cheap mixer to get a phono input, so I can incorporate a turntable into my setup. What connection do I have to use from the mixer to the mpc ? The mixer has a "master" and "record" output, do I just use one of those outputs to the mpc ? Sorry for such prelim questions....

what mixer make model did you buy?

on some dj mixers the "record output" bypasses the mic channel so that a dj can record his live mixing minus his voice announcements on the mic since they may be gig specific like "uncle skeeter, move your car, or "las call for acka halllllll"

you can use either the master out or the record out to capture your turntable though

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. The mixer is a Numark DM905. It's just a 2 channel mixer with a couple of phonos / line ins plus the rec and master out. Had to go pretty cheap, the mpc and the turntable had to come first.

Yeah I'd like to do that after a while.

Thanks again for your help guys and I appreciate you taking the time to answer this pretty basic stuff for me. Hoping to get set up in a hurry when my stuff arrives Monday.
