i got a mbox but i use acid pro 7 with it instead of pro tools
i have a mpk49 midi controller
and record+reason 4.0(free upgrade to 1.15 and reason 5.0 on august 25th)
i also have recycle

but i really wanna start doing stuff in the mpc

the only thing i like about the computer is that i can flip samples so easily and i can bounce them to mp3 as soon as im done and if anythings wrong i can go back and re do it all.

What i dont like is the sound and work flow
so im looking at the 1000 and 2500
samash has a used blue 1000 stock for 375 but then i have to add the pads and jjos2 thats another 300 so basically im paying 675
they also have a 2500 for 600 used it has all the outs and expanded memory all i need is a hd and jjos2 which will run me 150 so i figured for 75 more i can get the 2500

i just wanna know is the 2500 or 1000 good enough with the jjos2 to mix in the box or are the effects wack? and how time consuming is it gonna be with only 2 inputs on my audio interface for now to track out recordings?Or maybe i can just mix to my best advantage then record the final track in to my daw and if some one likes it ill track it out and when they buy it.

a few more questions
they said the 2500 is being discontinued so does that mean im missing out ?
i mean there is always mpcstuff.com and rogue music if something happens

im basically looking to sit all in a box with my record and headphones and do work from there with out multitasking.

I bought my mpc 1000 new in 2004 all the pads still work fine

jjos to me kind of gives you some daw like features & workflow improved on the akai os

you can mix in the box if you want just fine

Yea but the mpc 1000 they have i can tell instantly that im gonna have to change the censors and pad 5 might even be dead it has no sensitivity.

As is search the forum alot of peoplesay the 1000 is just as good as the 2500 and the 2500 just has a few more faders ,knobs and outs how far from the truth is that?

also if i have a internal or external hard drive with the mpc is that only for saving sounds or i possible to pull up a full song i created on the mpc ? is it for storage of pgms and songs or just sounds?

1000 with JJOS is pretty close to the functionality of the 2500 with JJOS
I believe the 1000's default Akai OS is missing some features of the 2500's Akai OS, but I could be wrong

you save whatever you want on the HD, samples, programs, sequences, songs...

Not a million miles away, but you don't have to worry about dodgy pads with the 2500.

The full size pads just feel way better than the 1000's, plus the tilt screen is a nice luxury that I wouldn't want to live without.

Also the dedicated numeric keys come into their own with JJOS XL.

Your biggest fear should be that it's used gear from Sam Ash.

Before you walk out the door make sure they are really clear on your return period and return policy.
They do very little to actually test used gear so once you have it home you need to take it through the paces to find out as much about it while it's still returnable.

Just remember some of the things that make the 2500 feel better;
-full sized pads
-more standard outs
-tilt screen
-useable Q-Links the physical design of the 1k links doesn't feel as good
-more Q-Links
-more buttons for direct access
-ability to use CD roms

The 2500 was discontinued a year ago which is part of the reason for the price but still expect to find something tweaky for $600.
Hold off on the JJ or use the free JJ until you know you will keep the unit since JJ paid versions are tied to thre machine.
