Last year I bought an MPC2500. I did so because I had stuff going on that I wanted to take my mind off.

Didn't really work as I couldn't concentrate because of the nonsense at the time.

I shouldn't have bought any music equipment as I have no experience whatsoever.

My question is...what book could I buy as a start to understand what it takes to understand digital and MPC production?

Thank you

hahahaha!

hey, maybe you could get one of those yellow books like making music for complete idiots... or what ever they are called. I saw someone trying to sell one of those in the craigslist music section for 10 bucks.

Just out of curiosity, when you first bought the mpc, what did you think you would do with it? and what were you able to do with it?

Cause you must have gotten some knowledge about the unit somewhere no doubt? Maybe seeing some beat making vids could show you some things you didn't know you could do with the mpc.

ok enough about cosmic,

THE MANUAL. first read the manual to understand how to use your mpc technically. then for more info about digital production there is almost infinite information on the internet. so start working with your mpc and when you have specific questions look online, these forums are great for that, as well as google. i can't recommend any books because there are so many about digital production. if you want to spend money look at the ads on this site for the MPC tutorials. i don't know of any MPC books besides the manual. there are plenty of books about digital production, but that's such a wide field that you'll have to know what you want to do specifically, so at this point you should just be experimenting and listening to other music that's made the same way as the music you want to make
