Hi im new to the mpd/mpc community and im looking for a very specific answer that hopefully you guys can help me with.

I recently purchased an mpd16 and i wanted to know what software i need to use with it to come as close as possible to the sequencing that an mpc does. You know hit a couple pads and it starts looping it for you. Not sure if its possible but with what can be done with this stuff now a days im assuming it can be done with software on the comp. Any help you guys could give would be great and thanks in advance.

well not much will do the same as an mpc... but with fl studio you can sort of do that.

dont let that scare you, I have an mpd 16 on my computer (via midi interface on the motu because the USB method does not work on my machine) and also I set it up as a BANK B set of pads sometimes on the mpc to avoid the need for switching. Also another good thing is for example if you have an MV-8000 or what ever... lets say you have a piano patch loaded and you want to record a melody live... transposing is a **** so you got that extra 1.3 octaves.

Now on fl studio you can hit out some live drums and sample triggering... right click the record button and make sure only "SCORE" is highlighted... and not audio and automation. Try it out.... fl studio is free.
