Hi, I just purchased an MPC and I am new to music production in general. I was wondering if there was a way to record samples and have it so that as soon as you press the stop button the recording stops and it loops what you just had played rather then waiting for the rest of the bar to play out or trying relentlessly to loop perfectly over fewer bars.

Heres an example of what im talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFsR_5Nxqyw

Hope this made sense, thanks in advance

welcome to the forums!

in your example there is no recording at all!

you can see that the sample was recorded and sliced to the different pads before he was starting the video.
then he showed how he played the pads for his loop, but the loop was allready recorded before the video starts - he just hit the start button to let it run. there is no red light at the record button!
then he switched to another program to play the drums over the running loop.

if you want to play a loop like this and record your performance hit rec+play and bang away - after the end of the bars you set before is reached the loop will start from the beginning and you can start layering other parts above it. this is called overdub.

you can switch the track while the recording is runing so your drums will be recorded to that other track.

read the manual and the forums - and have a look at some other youtube videos - you´ll see it is easy.
