Major differences between MPC3000 and MPC 5000

I'm thinking of buying my son who is a senior in H.S. this year a MPC. A friend of mine suggested to start him off with the MPC 3000 (used). What are the major differences between the MPC 3000 and MPC 5000?

3000 is a older classic model, still pricey and hard to find out dated parts, the 5000 is new and has alot of glitches and problems still. i'd suggest a 2500, great for begginners and loved by experts

check out the 1000 or 2500. these have the best price to feature ratio.

yes, 1k or 2500!
you, or he, can get the aftermarket jjos (which makes it the machine run alot nicer and enhances their workflow tremendously)
another thing to think about, to my knowledge, the mpc 1000 can do the exact same thing as the mpc 2500 if you get the jjos with it, so that would save you money and speed up your sons workflow at the same time. keep in mind that the jjos is an aftermarket os that is not sold by akai, so you have to buy it separate.
the only difference between them would be that the 2500 has a couple extra sliders and more physical outputs than the 1k, but software wise, they would be identical.

Keep in mind that people love the jjos bur its hacked software that is not endorsed by akai(numark). Its not aftermarket. The 5k is not full of glitches.
