Hey I recently bought a 2000xl and have been messing with it for bout a month or so now. I got it down pretty well but now im interested in hooking up my MPC to my laptop so i can start recording my beats. only problem is whenever I search for a solution to this there seems to be countless options. I do not have the 8 out board yet. What is the best method for hooking the 2000XL up to a laptop? I wanted to ask to make sure before i go out and buy an audio interface. I've heard good things about fast track pro. any advice would be rly appreciated. Thanks dudes

cos your rocking an XL and cos im listening to early johnny cash and chilled to the max, imma hop in and help a brother out.

i'm taking it you want to send audio out the stereos outs are fine. build beats on different tracks. kick 1, snare 2, hats 3 etc then use track mutes to bounce out as individual tracks.

give this a read hombre - http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_fo ... studio.htm

and have a butchers at the Akai page --> http://www.akaipro.com/mpc2000xl

if you are NOT trying to multitrack and you are new to the MPC and never recorded hardware, the best way to start recording and its probably the easiest and cheapest way to record from ANY MPC to your PC.

get Audacity (or use whatever DAW you have)

get a 1/8 to 1/4 (stereo) cable, it looks like this...

simply, plug the 1/8 jack into your Mic Line in on your PC, plug the 1/4 jacks into your MPC outs.

set your DAW to record your Mic Line in and you are ready to record.

this methods will cost you no more then $15... (audacity is a free recording program)

make sure you have your outs and ins sorted out, MPC out/PC in... dont have your MPC out to PC out, because then you will cause a black hole, ending the world as we know it.

Happy beat making.
