1000 black 128 megs for $ 550 OR 2000cl 32 megs, 8out $475

I'm having a really hard time deciding. I'm coming from mainly computer sequencing, and I'm not sure if the 1000's workflow will be enough to justify picking it over the 2000's sound (more character) and solid build. Bear in mind I've also got an emu emax, but no stereo sampling in that bad boy. Thanks for any opinions.

You'll hear this more than once around here. The 1k packs more power than the 2kxl, especially with jj-os installed on it.

Don't get hung up with the sound character thing. Because if you rely this heavily on the sound and forget that there's other means to augment this, you'll need to step things up a bit.

That 1k sounds good. I paid 525 for mine with 2gig card and 128mb upgrade. I bought JJos myself though.

I used Fruity Loops/ FL studio since 2004.. you will be more than fine with the 1k. I can do the same sorts of things and my sound has improved dramatically just with the 1k alone.
