Alright... so I just found this badass site and finally decided to register and get the ball movin with this whole mpc thing.

Basically I have an MPC2000XL that I got for free from a friend a few years back. I used it once or twice for the pads as a control device in Ableton but thats about it. This MPC has a flash card slot as well as a slot labeled MS/SD/SM . I have an SD card as well as one CF card (looks like the one that came with the MPC). Also, I have a usb compact flash card reader for my PC.

So I want take .wav files that I want to use as samples on the MPC... how do I do this? I seem to not be able to get the SD card reading in the MPC. For this reason I got the FC reader to transfer files using the CF card...but when I looked at the files already on that CF card... i felt like I shouldn't **** with it. Thus I am asking what my first step might be to you guys.

Also I do have a copy of the manual and have read a bit of it.... I think I need some actual help tho!

Appreciate it.

the manual, or a quick search on the forums, will tell you what format your files need to be in.

such as:
"Yeah what pt3r said. 44.1k, 16 bit, 8 characters. Also beware of "illegal" characters like spaces and tildes (~) that the MPC's file system has a hard time reading.

Also the wave file format has changed a good bit since the MPC OS was written. Modern wave files can confuse the MPC by having extra data embedded into the file.

There is a program called Stripwav that changes wave files to a format the MPC can read."

Awave is a great program for converting samples."
