you're talking about looping the entire sample, say a drum break, not just the tail on a synth sample, right?
i don't bother with looping. instead, just retrigger the sample everytime you want it to 'loop'. say you have a 2 bar drum break you want to loop on an 8 bar sequence. just have the sample play on the 1, 3, 5, 7.
set the sample for 'mono', so the new sample doesn't play over the top of the ending of the previous one.
