how to assign notes to pads on mpc2000xl

hey all,
i am having trouble figuring out how to do this...ok..
let say i have the asr10 midi'd up to the mpc using the mpc as the master..
how do i assign key # c4 on the asr to pad 1 on the mpc...
i find that i can play off the mpc fine but i never know what note i'm playing or if i know its c4 on the asr i have to hunt for it on the mpc..
is there a way to assign the pads to play certain keys off the asr???

yeah just check out 2000xl.net. it breaks it down in fine detail, all i know is sumting bout a blnk pgm being made.
