This is a potentially super retarded question, but I've never messed with this. If I had a Z8/Z4 (or any other akai rackmount sampler, I suppose), and I got an Akai Format Sample CD and I pop it in and load it up, does it already have the Program layout already done? For instance, say I bought Bass Sample CD, when I load it up is there a Bass 1, Bass 2, Bass 3 ETC set of program files that I load up and they're already laid out chromatically and all that? I'm much more interested in instrument stuff, since I've got all the drums I could possibly need. Reason I ask is a guy locally has a Z8 to sell with like 90 some odd sample cds included for super cheap (its a pawn shop, so he has no clue) and if that's the case, I'mma cop it like 15 minutes ago.

My other question is if I pop the 60gb hdd out and add a 500gb or something, can I load up all the sample cds onto the hdd and sell them? Or did they catch on to that? To be honest, I'm as CD free in my lifestyle as one gets, and having a crap ton of cds sitting around sounds awful.

Yes, an Akai format sample CD should be arranged into programs already.

Yes, you can save/ store the same programs on the internal or an external HD.

Enjoy!
