ok so ive sampled a part of a song, but the original beat is still active? and i just wanted to use the vocals cancelling out the original instrumental, was there anyway to do that?

No......

I suggest you play with the filters and try to isolate the vocals a bit but you cat completed "eliminate" every thing except vocals.

ahhh! ok then, does this mean the same thing for wanting to use just one particular sound from a sampled song ?

Yes dude unfortunately it means the same thing.
Like J.O.BEATS said you'll have to play around with the filters.
Try playing with EQ as well.

Edit - Some computer software programmes have a feature I think called 'vocal remover' where it cancels the sound pannned directly central as this is where the vocals are in the mix.. I'd imagine theres an option to only play this central sound. Vocal isolator :?
I'm not sure what software does this but it does exist!
Try doing a search here as its probably been covered a few times.

Is the sample in stereo? You can get lucky panning from L 2 R...... But you need to use filters to remove unwanted sounds.
